Stewart Parnell, owner of Peanut Corp. of America, told workers to ship peanuts tainted with salmonella because he was worried about losing money, according to email records. [Rep.] Stupak says he wants know how Peanut Corp. managed to sell allegedly tainted goods month after month without triggering action by state and federal health authorities. [...] The alleged humans at Peanut Corp. of America who knowingly sold salmonella-laced peanuts will now be facing criminal charges. Or at least I hope so. The FBI raided the plant yesterday. Monday’s searches come three days after Food and Drug Administration investigators said Peanut Corp. knowingly shipped salmonella-laced products from its Georgia plant after [...] Peanut Corp. of America had said batches that initially tested positive for salmonella were retested and found to be negative before shipping. An FDA report says some batches were not tested at all. Eight people died because of this. The amoral greedheads at Peanut Corp. of America who are responsible should be charged with manslaughter. [...] The president of the Peanut Corp. of America, which is currently under criminal investigation for a nationwide salmonella outbreak, serves on an advisory board that sets quality standards for peanuts. Somebody needs to go to prison, both in the FDA and in the companies that manufactured this poison. Now that the federal government is no longer headed by anti-regulation zealots, hopefully there will be prosecutions. Serious ones. Mercury found in corn syrup.
