Oh my God we are…

Oh my God we are so broke ha ha ha ha

Yet another wondrous stream-of-consciousness rant from Mark Moford’s Morning Fix. Subscribe now!

To read his stuff, just take a deep breath, dive in, and read to the end. Don’t stop, you’ll lose the flow…

“The government ran up a deficit of $252.6 billion in the first six months of the 2003 budget year, nearly twice the total for the same period a year earlier, cuz they’re just that goddamn snickeringly hell-bent on trashing the economy for the benefit of BushCo’s giddy money-drunk WASP mafia cronies, woo hoo! What, too bitter? The latest figures, released by the Treasury Department, highlighted the government’s deteriorating fiscal situation and mind-numbing molestation of the national treasury, suckers, ha ha ha guess what while you were all dumbstruck watching the war on TV ShrubCo was busy doing to the nation what Jenna does to a beer bong, beeyatch. Record deficits are forecast this year and next, ha ha ha hahahahaha. The total deficit so far this fiscal year compares with a shortfall of $131.9 billion a year earlier. “We sincerely hope to quintuple that number by this time next year, and lose money so fast it makes the very core of your being swoon with sadness and bitter rage,” said Dick Cheney, picking his teeth with the dried arm bone of an Iraqi child.”

How broke is California?

How broke is California?

California is so broke that the state can’t fund the usual transportation projects. When this happens, the Feds will cut back on what they give, leaving California with a huge shortfall.

$8-billion transit loss is feared

If transportation funds are slashed to ease the state budget gap, six Southland counties might lose billions of dollars in federal aid for highways and transit services, regional planners warn.”

From Wayne Kramer’s Muscletone Records comes news of a truly gigantic site devoted to the MC5 (Wayne was their guitarist).

“This is the most pathologically detailed site on the MC5 we’ve ever, ever, ever, ever seen. If you haven’t visited this French site (it’s in English) yet, go here at least once to have your mind blown…

Kramer continues to release excellent music, both with his solo CDs, and with the bands he signs to Muscletone. His stuff is street-wise, intelligent, aural assaults, with with avant jazz, like Sun Ra, and spoken word tossed in the mix.

(The MC5, like the Velvet Underground, were around in the late 60’s-early 70’s, maybe didn’t sell that much, but influenced many, especially punk, and still do.)

From one who does

From one who does

Email from Rev. Chris Ponnet of L.A., who has been engaging in civil disobedience for years.

“I ask your prayers…at 8:30am this Easter Monday several of us will appear in LA Criminal Court Temple between Broadway and  Main 7th Floor division 52 and will plead guilty to a misdemeanor that on Ash Wednesday March 5th we did not move from the street of LA in opposition to the US led war on Iraq. Your prayers would be appreciated. It looks like I and a few of the 18 will be given 45 days.

I need to go into court today expecting the worst and be prepared and trusting that this might all be over in a few hours…so we can continue the ministry of the hospital and our outreach justice and peace ministry.

Blessed Easter and Passover joy…”

I haven’t heard yet what his sentence is.
