Independent voting activist Randy Miller. Meetup in Salt Lake

It was great meeting Randy Miller and his wife Andrea on Friday in Salt Lake City! He’s an independent voting activist who blogs here some. You can also find him on the Utah League of Independent Voters Facebook Page and website.

There are now more independent voters in Utah than Republicans and Democrats combined!

Utah’s Own Abel Maldonado–Sheryl Allen

I think Utah may have found it’s own Abel Maldonado. Sheryl Allen who appears in this KCPW radio program was a Republican representative in the Utah legislature. She did not run for re-election in 2010 but instead ran as a Republican Lt. Governor with Democrat Peter Corroon for Governor. Corroon did not support open primaries [...]

Utah most vulnerable to European slowdown

It exports gold and silver to the UK and has the highest percent of GDP to Europe of any state.

However, the biggest problem and impact will be from financial contagion as yet more houses of cards come tumbling down, something which will affect all states.

The first party to one million in Utah is No Party

Not to be confused with the Party Of No, the first bloc of Utah voters to amass 1 million voters will be the unaffiliated or as we prefer independent voters–no party or party of no thanks. On May 31 the independent voter total was 987,244. Today, October 21, 2011 the total is 998,069. Harold Camping [...]

Utah.gov websites provide real value for citizens

Craig Newmark of Craigslist details the amazing job Utah has done with their new state websites. The changes include a common look-and-feel across all sites, auto-sensing for mobile devices, context-sensitive searches, crowdsourcing and geotagging, and much more.

Okay, the deal is that people can use the Net to provide better customer service for citizens, [...]

Utah to BofA. Your foreclosures are illegal

This is in direct response to BofA previously telling Utah to go screw itself about the foreclosures.

Market-Ticker says what Utah should do now.

The time to rattle sabers is over. Start revoking foreign corporate registrations (necessary to do business in a given state) and bringing indictments.

Agreed. The best place for these arrogant banksters [...]

Gold and silver are now legal tender in Utah

This was done specifically as a protest against Federal Reserve policy. Further, sales of bullion are now exempt from state capital gains tax in Utah. At least eleven other states are considering similar laws. This is a populist revolt, no question about it.

Will the Feds try to stop it? We shall see.

Las Vegas wants 65 billion gallons of Utah water annually

The Salt Lake City Tribune says no, as does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Sierra Club. Southern Nevada Water Authority chief Pat Mulroy is known for hardball tactics in her desperate attempts to grab / steal water from wherever possible for a city in the desert with little water [...]

Water War. Vegas vs Utah

Las Vegas wants to build a water pipeline from Utah and the Great Basin to quench the thirst of its citizens. Hearings are starting. I’m guessing this will be OTDB of Utahns.

One can’t help but wonder about the wisdom of building a city of 2 million people in a place that doesn’t have enough [...]

Polygamous church dispute may head to Utah court

A war of secession in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints between church bishop William E. Jessop and jailed current leader Warren Jeffs may go to court.

Monday marks the deadline set by commerce officials for both parties to resolve the dispute or a legal showdown might be set in motion [...]
