Little Green Footballs breaks with the right

In a hugely courageous move, Charles Johnson of the influential LGF has given up on the right. His post announcing the break has 1400 comments now which gives a clear example of his blog’s reach.

Why I parted ways with the right

1. Support for fascists

2. Support for bigotry, hatred, and white supremacism

3. Support for throwing women back into the Dark Ages, and general religious fanaticism

4. Support for anti-science bad craziness

5. Support for homophobic bigotry

6. Support for anti-government lunacy

7. Support for conspiracy theories and hate speech

8. A right-wing blogosphere that is almost universally dominated by raging hate speech

9. Anti-Islamic bigotry

10. Hatred for President Obama that goes far beyond simply criticizing his policies

The American right wing has gone off the rails, into the bushes, and off the cliff.

I won’t be going over the cliff with them.

    • Because clearly, since he’s broken with the right, he’s with the left now…. Where else could he possibly go? Not like there’s any middle ground left. Just like when you get divorced, you can only do so by being immediatly married to someone else.

Rather than see how your alienating people, you continue in your idiotic diatribe, saying “He’s with the left now!”, when in fact he isn’t. Your own words show how ignorant you are. It’s people like you that he’s talking about. The fact that you can’t see that is both pathetic, and unsettling. How dumb is the right?

  1. All kidding aside, this is very interesting indeed. I don’t go near very many right-wing blogs because I don’t know which ones are non-crazy (and wading through all the crazy to find them is to much for me to stomach), so thanks for highlighting this or I might never have known. The comments are interesting too — largely pretty thoughtful.

I may not agree with the man’s politics, but I honor Charles for having the courage to do this.
