Old-fashioned police work

A recent convert to Islam who told people he wanted to commit jihad and explode hand grenades in a mall was arrested in Chicago trying to buy hand grenades. The FBI learned of the plan from an alarmed acquaintance of the guy (who certainly seems a lone wacko to me) who then cased the mall with him, looking for places to plant them, while reporting back to the FBI. So, it appears this was a genuine threat.

They arrested the guy through solid police work, not bizarre governmental monitoring schemes scanning everyone’s email and phone records or insisting that carry-on plastic bottles at airports be put only put in zippable baggies, etc. No, they got him the old-fashioned way; a tip, followed by months of work - which seems the best, most effective way, as well as being the least harmful to civil liberties.

More poisonings in Litvinenko case

Third Russian sick from radiation

Radiation ‘trace’ at Hamburg flat

Russian authorities say Litvinenko was killed to make them look bad

A Chechen separatist says Putin was behind Litvinenko’s death

Mario Scaramella, the Italian who was poisoned, has KGB links

Andrei Lugovoy was poisoned too but somehow hasn’t been questioned yet.

Dmitry Kovtun is desperately ill from the poison

So, how does someone spread radioactive poison getting contaminated themselves when a quiet bullet in the head or being disappeared would also do the job? Screw with us and you die slowly and painfully seems to be the message being sent.

The trail sure seems to lead to Putin, right? Except the trail is so obvious, that maybe it was meant to look that way. But then, the Russian government is obviously stonewalling…

During the organized crimes wars in Chicago during the 30’s, no one much cared as long as they only killed each other. I mean, there’s no heroes here, all of them have murky, KGB, and worse backgrounds. A private war between thugs has broken out into the open, that’s what’s going on.

GOP senator: Iraq war may be ‘criminal’

A spokesman said Friday that Oregon Sen. Gordon Smith did not mean to call the war criminal in a legal sense.

Criminal

- guilty of crime
- shameful, disgraceful

So then, he must be saying the war is merely shameful and disgraceful, right?
