CDC Warning

“The Centers for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new virulent strain of a sexually transmitted disease. This disease is contracted through dangerous and high-risk behavior. The disease is called Gonorrhea Lectim (pronounced “gonna re-elect him”). Many victims have contracted it after having been screwed for the past four years, in spite of having taken measures to protect themselves from this especially troublesome disease. Cognitive sequelae in individuals infected with Gonorrhea Lectim include but are not limited to the following:

  • Anti-social personality disorder traits.
  • Delusions of grandeur with a distinct messianic flavor.
  • Chronic mangling of the English language.
  • Extreme cognitive dissonance.
  • Inability to incorporate new information.
  • Pronounced xenophobia.
  • Inability to accept responsibility for one’s own actions.
  • Exceptional cowardice masked by acts of misplaced bravado.
  • Uncontrolled facial smirking.
  • Ignorance of geography and history.
  • Tendency toward creating evangelical theocracies.
  • A strong propensity for categorical, all-or nothing behavior.

This epidemic is out of control. It has already resulted in brain death in more than 59,000,000 Americans. New CDC Director Archbishop Burke has ordered a halt to research into this disease after determining that it is incurable and is merely God’s will. Apparently, however, at least 55,000,000 Americans have a natural immunity to this disorder and are poised to lead a brief but exciting life right after the rapture begins and our afflicted fellow Americans ascend to their eternal reward.

Naturalists and epidemiologists are amazed and baffled that this malignant disease originated only a few years ago in a Texas Bush. “

Test

Test

Update: The blog is still hiccuping after recovering from the server crash. This morning the home page had reverted back to 2/16, just before the crash. Aargh, I thought, and I haven’t even had my coffee yet! So I posted this msg as a test, to prime the pump, and the entries from 2/17-19 came back. Whew.

Then, even more psychotically, the blog software appears to have found all the missing entries (the ones from Jan 31-Feb 15 that were lost when I restored to Jan 30 after the crash) somewhere in the blog database on the server, and re-posted them.

But you can’t see them from the home page. Look at the calendar to the right. It shows entries for Feb 17-19. Click “Jan” under the calendar, then click “Feb.” You will now see entries from Feb 1-14, but nothing for Feb 17-19.

Now click “Home  ” in the upper left of this page. You will be back at the home page, with the calendar showing Feb 17-19 only.

Any Radio UserLand gurus out there who can explain what’s happening? I *think* the blog is stable. Bizarre, huh?

Had the penguins been watching SpongeBob?

Gay penguins resist ‘aversion therapy’

Attempts by a Germany zoo to “convert” its gay penguins to heterosexuality have failed the zoo’s director said Friday.

The Bremerhaven Zoo had imported four female penguins from Sweden which it hoped would split up its three gay penguin couples and turn the birds “straight”.

But the six gay penguins were not interested in dallying with the other sex, remaining faithful to their same-sex partners.

From the clueless Zoo director

“We don’t know whether the three male pairs are really homosexual or whether they have just bonded because of a shortage of females,” says Ms Kueck in Germany’s Der Spiegel news magazine.

But she says that “gay groups worldwide have been cursing us since that announcement”.

Joe Delaplaine emails, “we’re thinking of adopting a gay penguin and keeping homophobes in a zoo, we call it ‘Aviary’ therapy.”

Oil and gas companies, electric power producers, real estate firms, manufacturers, financial institutions and automakers face a record number of global warming resolutions that have been filed by shareholders for the 2005 proxy season.

State and city pension funds and labor, foundation, religious and other institutional shareholders have filed 31 resolutions requesting financial risk disclosure and plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with nine oil and gas companies, six manufacturers, three electric power providers and two automakers.

Ocean, Arctic studies show global warming is real

A parcel of studies looking at the oceans and melting Arctic ice leave no room for doubt that it is getting warmer, people are to blame, and the weather is going to suffer, climate experts said on Thursday.
