Group linked to al-Qaida claims…

Group linked to al-Qaida claims Spain bombings

The Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades claimed repsonsibility for the bombings and said an attack on the US was “imminent”, somethig not to be taken lightly, as Google and Yahoo show they’ve done plenty of bombings before.

A series of bombs hidden in backpacks exploded in quick succession Thursday, blowing apart four commuter trains and killing at least 192 people and wounding more than 1,400. Spain at first blamed Basque separatists but a shadowy group claimed responsibility in the name of al-Qaida for the worst terrorist attack in Spanish history.

They say a US attack is coming

The statement also claimed responsibility for the suicide attack on a Masonic lodge in Istanbul two days earlier and said a big attack on the United States was “imminent”.

“We bring the good news to Muslims of the world that the expected ‘Winds of Black Death’ strike against America is now in its final stages…90% ready and God willing near,” it said.

Spain’s 9/11

Spain’s 9/11

At least 180 dead. Basque separatists say it wasn’t them

Officials blamed the Basque separatist group ETA for the worst terror attack in Spain’s history. However, Arnold Otegi, the leader of an outlawed Basque party linked to the separatist group, denied the deadly explosions were the work of ETA and he suggested “Arab resistance” elements were responsible. The ETA always phones in warnings before it attacks. Spain’s Interior Minister Angel Acebes said earlier there was no warning before Thursday’s attack.

Mel Gibson’s next movie!

Mel Gibson’s next movie!

I read this on the Internet, so it must be true.

The Passion of the Bush

HOLLYWOOD, CA, Mar. 11 - The Bush/Cheney 2004 campaign announced today that Mel Gibson has produced and directed a new campaign short film, “The Passion of the Bush”.

Gibson, who said he is honored and humbled to be associated with the project, described the film as “a factual portrayal of ten hours on 9/11 that transformed George W. Bush from an affable, third-rate politician and not-so-bright son of wealth and privilege into the Great Defender of American Faith, Family, and Freedom, and in fact a Modern Savior who delivered us from Evil.”

Kerry calls Bushies “crooked” and…

Kerry calls Bushies “crooked” and “lying”

“These guys are the most crooked, you know, lying group I’ve ever seen,” Kerry added. “It’s scary.”

Kerry is going for the jugular. Good. He’s clearly showing he can attack and counter-attack with the best of them.

And don’t forget, in back of Kerry is billionaire George Soros who has said he will spend whatever is necessary to defeat Bush.

Update: A reader comments Kerry made the remark thinking he was off-mike. However he hasn’t backed off from it much. The LA Times points out this is real early in a campaign for such mud-slinging, and that both are doing it. Gosh, I can hardly wait for the end of October…

Kerry made his offhanded remark during a stop at a sheet-metal plant in Chicago.

Coming almost eight months before election day, the rancorous back-and-forth between the campaigns threatens to alienate voters and increase negative perceptions of both candidates, political experts said.

“This type of rhetoric definitely reflects a lot of anger out there,” said Baer, who worked as a speechwriter for former Vice President Al Gore. “The trick for both these guys is, reflect the anger and at the same time offer a positive vision.”

Yet another “critical” security found…

Yet another “critical” security found in Outlook

Microsoft upgraded a recent security warning to “critical” after discovering new ways in which an attacker could run malicious software on a vulnerable computer.

Thus, and here’s a shocker, you need to “download and install a patch to correct the problem as quickly as possible”. You have lots of spare time to install these patches, right? I certainly enjoy spending hours a week downloading patches and reading security updates to fix gaping security holes that never should have existed at all. And how about that “as quickly as possible”? Sure makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about using Microsoft products.

However, that’s in the past! I recently switched from Outlook to the open-source Thunderbird. and no longer have to worry about being attacked via Outlook. Plus, after a few weeks playing with Thunderbird, I’ve decided it’s superior to Outlook - faster, more intuitive, and better designed.

Brits free all 5 held…

Brits free all 5 held by US in Guantanamo

The police have freed all five Britons flown home from the jail at the American base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, raising questions about why they were held for two years, and on Thursday a lawyer for one of the men denounced their captors.

The men were turned over to British custody on Tuesday, and by late Wednesday, the British police and prosecutors had released all of them without charge.

Apparently even the Brits can no longer stomach or even believe the excesses of Bush. The US held these men for 2 years, the Brits freed them instantly. Think about it…
