Destroying missiles would be to…

Destroying missiles would be to ’sign death warrant’, says Iraq

“An increasingly cornered Iraq complained yesterday it might be signing its own death warrant if it obeyed a United Nations order to destroy dozens of missiles at the moment the US is poised to lead an invasion.

“They want us to destroy them at a time when we are threatened daily”

This could give the US a pretext to launch the unprovoked attack the chickenhawks so dearly want.

L. A City Council opposes…

L. A City Council opposes unilateral war In Iraq!!!

“Elected leaders of the nation’s second-largest city on Friday approved a resolution opposing a unilateral war against Iraq and urging the Bush administration to exhaust all diplomatic options before committing military forces.

The City Council voted 9-4 for the resolution after backers gave impassioned speeches that were cheered by hundreds of peace activists who packed the council chamber. Mayor James Hahn signed the resolution, making it the city’s official position on Iraq.

“I hope people understand we’re not a bunch of crazy politicians trying to dictate federal policy,” said Councilman Ed Reyes, who voted for the resolution. “We are echoing the sentiments of people who are hurting. Where do we begin to matter in the priority of our federal dollars?”

Indeed, while our country plans to go to war and spend hundreds of billions of dollars, major public hospitals in L.A. are closing due to lack of funding.

There are now 107 cities that have passed such resolutions, including Chiago and Los Angeles. Cities for Peace has the details.

The evildoers amongst us

The evildoers amongst us

A friend rants:

“I am FOR the war on Africanized killer bees. They are a clear and present danger to our Californian way of life. I won’t live in a world where I can’t go picnicking, or where I have to duct tape my windows to keep the bees out. We must kill them before they sting us. And I strongly support the racial profiling of all bees, even if that means detaining the benevolent Bolivian honey bees and putting them in concentration hives. Better safe than sorry. There are sleeper cells among us. Some were in my attic and one stung me on the ass.

There. I said it. Somebody had to.”
