Lerner answers ANSWER answering Lerner…

Lerner answers ANSWER answering Lerner answering ANSWER answering Lerner.

ANSWER vetoed Michael Lerner, a prominent liberal rabbi from speaking at the S.F rally this Sunday. Lerner says ANSWER did so because they don’t want “pro-Israel” speakers.

ANSWER says Lerner had publicly attacked them in the NY Times, and that the four coalitions putting on the rally have an agreement that a coalition could veto any speaker who had attacked them publicly, so they did just that.

Here’s the full text of Lerner’s responses

One excerpt:

“I had been publicly critical of the way that A.N.S.W.E.R., one of the four groups sponsoring the S.F. demonstration,, has used the anti-war demonstrations to put forward anti-Israel propaganda.”

My thoughts.:

1) As I pointed out here a few days back, just mention the word “Palestinians” and the Left splits into warring factions. Just like much of the rest of the world does. ANSWER is pro-Palestinian, no question about that.

2) Those who organize the rallies get to choose the speakers. Would you choose someone who’d publicly attacked you?

3) If Lerner can say ANSWER is anti-Israel, can not ANSWER say Lerner is pro-Israel?

4) Don’t expect the Left to resolve a question that no one else can resolve either. Sigh.

Blix reports hurts US call…

Blix reports hurts US call to war

Blix also flatly contradicts Colin Powell’s statements.

“Blix also said that assertions made last week by Powell that Iraq was hiding weapons of mass destruction had not been supported by subsequent inspections.

Pointing to one case Powell highlighted using satellite photos of a munitions depot, Blix said: “The reported movement of munitions at the site could just as easily have been a routine activity” as one designed to hide banned materials before inspections.

He also took issue with Powell’s suggestion that Iraq was receiving advance notice of U.N. inspections.

“In no case have we seen convincing evidence that the Iraqi side knew in advance that the inspectors were coming,” he said.

Blix did report that findings by a panel of experts found that one of Iraq’s new missile systems exceeds the range limit set by Security Council resolutions. “

To the Point, a syndicated public radio news show from KRCW in Santa Monica CA reported that Powell was “thunder-faced” as Blix, in effect, said Powell had been misleading. Plus the Security Council applauded when the French speaker was done - and that applauding a speaker in the Security Council has never happened before.

However Experts skeptical about `duct tape’ strategy for homeland defense, so perhaps not..   Actually, until now I’d not known there were experts in the nonapplicability of duct tape against terrorism.

Here’s what I advise, get yourself a stylin’ duct tape hat instead.

Plastic tent offers bioterror protection in US living rooms

Worried American families are being offered a clear-plastic tent as a new addition to their living rooms to fend off biological or chemical attack.

Co-inventor Manny Pereza said a family could huddle in the pressurized, filter-protected room-sized bubble and, using a remote control, still watch television during an attack.”

“Hey honey, I just heard the terrorists announcing on CNN they will be gassing our city in fifteen minutes.  I guess we better scamper inside our protective tent right now!”

ABC reports terror alert was…

ABC reports terror alert was based on fabricated information

“A key piece of the information leading to recent terror alerts was fabricated, according to two senior law enforcement officials in Washington and New York.

The officials said that a claim made by a captured al Qaeda member that Washington, New York or Florida would be hit by a “dirty bomb” sometime this week had proven to be a product of his imagination.”

How interesting that law enforcement officials are now leaking info damaging to the Bushies.

Enron ‘bribed tax officials’

Enron ‘bribed tax officials’

“A crucial report into the collapse of disgraced energy giant Enron has discovered the firm’s executives bribed tax officials.

The energy giant - once the US’ seventh largest firm - paid no income tax between 1996 and 1999 according to the investigation by the Senate Finance Committee.”

So when can we expect the indictment of these executives?
