Researchers in the UK have developed a 3D printed robot heart that uses fuel cells to create power from urine. It can beat 33 times on 2 ml of urine, raising the cyberpunk possibility of autonomous robots in a near-future dystopia ambushing humans and demanding their urine.

While still in the early stages of development, BRL roboticists see a future where “energetically autonomous robots” will be capable of powering themselves from the abundant waste every human creates.
