Dallas Buyer’s Club. Cowboy with AIDS helps others

Based on a true story, drug-addicted Texas rodeo cowboy Ron Woodroof is diagnosed with AIDS in 1985 and given 30 days to live. He starts smuggling AIDS drugs from Mexico to help himself and others. Ratings on Rotten Tomatoes for Texas Buyer’s Club are hugely positive, 95% from critics, 93% from audience

An outsider to the gay community, Ron finds an unlikely ally in fellow AIDS patient Rayon, a transsexual who shares Ron’s lust for life. Rayon also shares Ron’s entrepreneurial spirit: seeking to avoid government sanctions against selling non-approved medicines and supplements, they establish a “buyers club,” where H.I.V.-positive people pay monthly dues for access to the newly acquired supplies
