Department of Labor withdraws idiotic farm child labor ban

Under pressure from farming advocates in rural communities, and following a report by The Daily Caller, the Obama administration withdrew a proposed rule Thursday that would have applied child labor laws to family farms.

The 85 pages of proposed rules would have virtually banned children from working on their families farms.

“The Obama DOL’s youth farm labor rule is a perfect example of what happens when government gets too big,” said Sen. John Thune.

I completely agree and have to wonder if those drafting the farm child labor ban had ever been on a family farm in their lives, because if they had been then they’d know that farm kids do chores.

This is a heartening example of people power. DOL said public opposition forced them to withdraw these onerous, impossible to enforce, and restrictive rules. Sen. Thune said he would work to insure the ban is completely and permanently dead.
