Financial blogger Mish’s wife has ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease

Joanne

Mish wants to raise $3 million to go to ALS research. His blog, Mish’s Global Economic Trend Analysis, is widely read. He wants to sell 30,000 tickets at $200 each and given the blog’s popularity, he may well do it. The winner gets $1 million if all tickets are sold.

His blog is essential for financial news and analysis. Mish is a hardcore Randian but this is one of those times when political differences cease to matter.

Joanne has ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. More specifically, she has Progressive Bulbar Palsy a particularly aggressive form of the disease.

ALS is painless, non-contagious, and extremely cruel. The cause of ALS is unknown, but motor functions of the central nervous system cease to function although the mind remains fully aware to the end.

For a year she has been on a feeding tube, unable to eat or drink anything, including water. She now struggles walking.

Joanne is the love of my life.
