The only Democrats voting No were Merkley and Wyden of Oregon. Remember this the next time some in-denial Democrat tells you to vote for them because they’re so much better than Republicans.
Why is the bill “Orwellian”? It’s a huge bill including tons of funding for the wars, and allowing the military to do more in Yemen, but also expanding healthcare benefits for military families, increasing resources for demining operations, and making stricter regulations on what constitutes rape. I don’t necessarily like the bill, but I must have missed the Orwellian part.
It’s Orwellian because it includes that rider that US citizens on US soil can be detained indefinitely without trial.
