AP. Frantic efforts to avert meltdown in Japan

This after relentlessly perky propaganda from the Japanese government saying everything was a-ok, even as they extended the evacuation area, and had police in respirators scanning people for radiation.

Now the truth is coming out. They’re pumping in seawater in a “Hail Mary pass” to avoid disaster.

Look, everything here in Japan is off the charts in terms of magnitude of the multiple disasters, but I can’t help contrast the response of Japan to that of the Australian PM before, during, and after their recent Cat 5 hurricane. She sugarcoated nothing, said it was going to be brutal, and people respected her and her government for it.
