Today at noon EST, the Internal Revenue Service will have a moment of silence in honor of Vietnam veteran and IRS agent Vernon Hunter who was killed one year ago when a pilot deliberately crashed his plane into an IRS building in Austin where he was working.
He died in what can only be called a terrorist attack, as the intent was to kill innocents and noncombatants.
I was audited by Vernon Hunter. I cannot say it was easy, but he was a true gentleman.
I am very sad, heartbroken, about his passing. Though I cannot say I new him very well, my brief encounter led me to believe that he was a special person.
Condolances to his family and peace to his ashes.
