Police must not be seen as arm of the state, says UK top cop

Police fear becoming the focus of public anger at government cuts and that repeated clashes with demonstrators risk damaging their reputation, a top officer has told the Guardian.

Hello? The police always have been the arm of the state and of the ruling class, but the pretense has been otherwise. I guess that charade is about over in Britain now.

Of course it might help the image of UK police a teensy bit if they didn’t drag people out of wheelchairs and beat them.
