‘Epidemic of thrift’ hits US. Analysts horrified

I am the US economy. I need your debt

Dang it folks, just what is your problem? Apparently you’ve all been saving and being thrifty rather than taking on more debt and buying stuff you don’t need. This is just so wrong. And it’s hurting the economy.

There is an epidemic of thrift,” said Nariman Behravesh, chief economist at IHS Inc. in Lexington, Massachusetts. “Households and businesses are super-cautious right now.”

This aptly shows how deranged and off kilter our economy is. The economy is an addict but it’s not getting a fix from consumers any more. So apologists and defenders of that system now try to tell us that saving is a sickness and getting back into debt is the only cure. Oh wait, these were the same people who destroyed the economy, weren’t they? And that debt they want us to take on, why of course the money will flow to them.
