The Runaways kicked down a lot of doors for women in rock and roll. Their lifestyle apparently nearly killed Joan Jett and Cherie Currie and for all practical purposes did kill Sandy West. Band member Vickie Blue said researchers for the recent movie about the band asked her and Jackie Fox most of the questions because, since they didn’t drink or use back then, could actually remember what happened.
