35% of western states power could be renewable by 2017


This would require no major upgrades to the grid, but would be done by spreading wind and solar installations across large geographical areas to balance out the variability of the power generation.

Ok, but what about the other 65%?

This would also require major cooperation and sharing of information by multiple companies and states. Which is certainly doable.
