  1. This Church needs to be treated to some Biblical justice. An eye for an eye or being on the receiving end of ‘do unto others’. Perhaps – folks need need to protest at the Church on Sundays – with signs calling the church a promoter of bigotry, racism, hate mongering etc and also have their funerals picketed. It’s time they walked a mile in someone else’s shoes.

  2. When West-burro came to The High Desert to do its thing at the funeral of young Thomas Tucker, a quite vocal populace ultimately lauded the local district attorney for shepherding these animals out behind the goat-barns, clear across the fairgrounds from the ceremonies.

Bummer, as I am above ‘sin’, and have no problem casting the first stone.

  3. Funny, I didn’t see people so up at arms when this group was picketing the funerals of gay men in the 80s and 90s. They’ve been doing this for decades. The only reason they’re getting attention now is because they’ve decided to be media whores and go after a new target.

I do applaud what the father is doing here, and contributed to the fund setup to pay for the debt after the 4th circut rulling, which now will go toward a scholarship fund. They have a web site up and running, along with facebook links and the like.

O’Reilly is just being a media whore as well, hopping up his karma (on the cheap no less) by writing a check for a fraction of what it costs to run a single ad for his show. Free world-wide press for a day or two, promoting his show in thousands of venues for $17K? Make no mistake, he’s not doing this on principal, he’s doing it for ratings. If WBC were still just protesting the funerals of gay men (which they still do), and it was a gay partner sueing here, O’Riely would be more likely to host a Tea Party near the next one and encourage people to join in than write a check to help out.

    • Westboro is known for being deliberately offensive, videoing everything, then suing at the slightest provocation, I’m told.

Best anti-Westboro ploy I’ve heard of:

Several years back they picketed the funeral in Boston of a soldier killed in action. The Boston Police Department Bagpipers were there. Every time Westboro started yelling, 15 pipers responded, completely drowning them out.
