Joe Biden is right. Avoid planes

from the government’s own reference guide, and indeed, flying is a swell way to spread viruses.

“A sneeze produces approximately 2 million viable particles. These do not remain airborne very long, but are highly infective and can be inhaled by people near the infected source. Talking can produce as many as 2,000 particles per explosive sound.”

Also, the low humidity on a plane flight is an ideal environment for viruses.

  1. I hate how people are hyping this. More people were infected and died of your common, every day flu in the past month than have gotten this special strain of swine flu in the same time.

It’s not super virulent. It’s not a “pandemic”. It’s hype. Let’s close all the schools and lock the country down in a military statle like Mexico! Why not? Some US schools are already closed for the next week, debating a second week. CDC is holding daily press conferences.

Yet the spread rate has been confined almost exclusivly to people that have been to Mexico in the past 2 weeks. Even immediate family, living in the same house, are not getting ill. It’s no different than a normal, every day flu. No reason for 24/7 press coverage from people that don’t know any more about it than the public they’re trying to frigthen in to watching their show.

Not true. Of the three cases announced yesterday in Park City, Utah, only one had been to Mexico– the other two had not, and didn’t even know the first. The authorities’ conclusion: it’s now spreading freely in the community.

Still, as the Governor noted, it’s not a particularly dangerous strain (the 6% death rate in Mexico notwithstanding). So eat right, rest, and get your pneumonia vaccine. And live life like there’s no tomorrow!
