1) Two U.S. judges pleaded guilty Thursday to accepting over $2.6 million in kickbacks from a private youth detention center in return for them sentencing thousands of youths to unduly long and harsh sentences.
2) Another Peanut Corporation of America plant has been closed. Texas health officials ordered a recall of all peanut products ever processed there after finding dead rodents and excrement. They said ventilation equipment was pulling debris from an infested crawl space above production areas “resulting in the adulteration of exposed food products.” Nine people have died from salmonella from peanuts processed by Peanut Corp.
