Sainsbury’s to turn all food waste into biofuel

Sainbury’s, a major supermarket chain in the UK, plans to convert all food waste into biofuel rather than the current practice of dumping in it landfills. The biofuel will then be used to create electricity.

Further, they plan to end all landfill dumping by the end of the year. Wow.

This is a double win, less landfill dumping and more electricity. If all supermarkets did this, imagine how much could be saved and recycled.

  1. What we need is more programs like this in Sainsbury -now that is brilliant using wasted food as fuel. I would like to see less wasted food but at least it is not going into landfill. Thanks for this information as more people have to learn about what they waste and there are healthy alternatives to garbage and oil.
