UK jury: Threat of global warming justifies breaking the law

The threat of global warming is so great that campaigners were justified in causing more than £35,000 worth of damage to a coal-fired power station, a jury decided yesterday. In a verdict that will have shocked ministers and energy companies the jury at Maidstone Crown Court cleared six Greenpeace activists of criminal damage.

Sounds like jury nullification to me! That’s “the process whereby a jury in a criminal case effectively nullifies a law by acquitting a defendant regardless of the weight of evidence against him or her.”

Spread the meme. Juries can render existing laws null and void.

  1. And people wonder why England is looked at as such a laughing stock.

By their rationale people should now be able to eliminate Greenpeace members since they are a potential threat to their property.

This has the potential to escalate rapidly and viciously.

    This will no end well.

  2. I have some friends who were at that protest. One got arrested for having a picnic on the wrong spot. I kid you not.

Personally, I think that action of the jury is a Good Thing.
