Importing all food means sharply higher prices due to transportation costs plus increased spending and development for the transportation infrastructure to support it. Most the food would have to come in by ship or plane rather than truck too.
Some think Saudi Arabia has also hit peak oil. Thus, they could be on a long slow slide down in the coming decades.
