Ruling class turns on itself

Am I the only guy in this country who’s fed up with what’s happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We’ve got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we’ve got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can’t even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, “Stay the course.”Stay the course? You’ve got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned Titanic. I’ll give you a sound bite: Throw the bums out!

Lee Iacocca, former CEO of Chrysler, excerpted from his new book, Where Have All the Leaders Gone

Tip: Crooks and Liars

  1. Didn’t we just throw the bums out? Meet the new bums, same as the old bums… I keep hoping that those who say revolution is the only way are wrong. Though based on the revolutions I’ve seen, odds are we’d end up with bums with guns.

  2. That election was hardly a revolution! And revolutions aren’t necessarily violent, witness South Africa and the fall of apartheid.

  3. The election was a revolution only in the sense of turning around and finding ourselves exactly where we were before. As to the violence of revolutions, they can be nonviolent and result in positive change. But based on the number of violent, unproductive ones of late, the odds are against.
