  1. I had hoped that the Dem victory would signal a return to the central conservative values of financial responsibility, personal liberty, and Smith/Friedman economics. (Why not? The Republicans abandoned these values decades ago, and many of the Dems seemed to be headed in that direction.) No such luck. Both parties are on board with big spending, big government, and more laws telling us what we can and can’t do, usually in the name of security (anti-crime or anti-terror, what’s the difference?).

    How is it that both parties now display the worst of both liberalism and neo-con? And they call it a choice…
