If stopping “Islamist terrorists” is the goal at US ports, wouldn’t an Arab company be a better, not worse, choice since they know the culture, speak the languages, and thus would know what to look for?
Of course they might not know how to look out for homegrown terrorists like Timothy McVeigh, would they?
Anyone wanting to gain entry to the country illegally and secretively will probably just use the time-honored methods of bribery, intimidation, and extortion anyway.
As A born New Yorker I feel betrayed that any Arab nation with citizens
involved in 9-11 should be given management over our ports. Only American
should be in charge of American ports. I am so offened by this Arab Port
Deal. I truly feel any American involved with this Deal is a TRAITOR to
America and the American that die on 9-11
I too was born in NYC, and implying that an Arab company managing a port would engage in terrorism is racist, pure and simple.
My friend’s daughter is being deployed to Iraq. This is just terrible and senseless, but it is being replayed all over our country. I am sick about this, because I have no power alone to do anything about it. Together we can make a difference. Now that Bush’s approval rating on the handling of Iraq is only at 30%, we need to push Murtha’s plan:
To immediately redeploy U.S. troops consistent with the safety of U.S. forces.
To create a quick reaction force in the region.
To create an over- the- horizon presence of Marines.
To diplomatically pursue security and stability in Iraq
The people need to “speak up†against continuing this war. It is over. Iraq is close to or in a civil war. A civil war is not our fight. Please write to everyone you can think of and push them to end this madness. We need to bring our troops home before we lose anymore of our true treasure – our men and women.
