Bluff called

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Sunday warned U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice not to “mess with” him days after Rice described Venezuela as a menace to regional democracy.

The warning comes days after Rice described Venezuela as one of the “biggest problems” for the Western Hemisphere and promised to develop regional alliances as part of an “inoculation” strategy to expose what the State Department calls anti-democratic behavior in Venezuela.

Chavez is a democratically leader. Hamas was also democractically elected. The real enemies of democracy are the neocons, who blatantly try to destroy any government they don’t approve of. Trouble is, their lies and deceptions are now so obvious that no one believes them any more.

And the more they push, the more they are opposed.

For a serious threat to democracy, both here and all over the world, read about the rejection of Maher Arar’s lawsuit by a judge yesterday. Truly frightening stuff.
