Local Harvest lists community supported agriculture, farms, co-ops, farmer’s markets, restaurants and more across the country in an easy to use, intuitive format. I just found several CSAs that drop off organic locally grown food at pickup spots in San Jose, a city of one million. There are probably several CSAs near you too. They also have a list of CSA blogs which I’ll be going through too.
CSAs are basically modified co-ops. People agree to buy a certain amount of food each week from a farm (or farms.) They often deliver the food in bulk to local pick up spots. Thus, while we live in a major city, there is plentiful farm land nearby which can provide us with organic, local food and farmers with steady income.
