3D printing will spawn copyright wars just like digital music has

Pirated goods will flood the world, squeals the Economist, if those horrid 3-D printers are allowed to proliferate. Ok, they don’t quite put it in those terms but that’s their implication. Websites hosting CAD files must be taken down, the sanctity of media dinosaurs desperately protecting a vanished past must be allowed free rein to stop whatever 3-D printing or digital music is out there. Because their profits are more important than any possibility of progress, new ideas, or medical or technological breakthroughs.

“Those who can no longer innovate, litigate.”

Copyright is dead. Get over it. Move with the times and build something new instead.
