Here’s what the good priest, Father Benedict Groeschel, had to say on National Catholic Register about child sex victims before they took down the article and apologized profusely after the predictable storm of outrage. But yet to be explained is why it was published at all.
A lot of the cases, the youngster — 14, 16, 18 — is the seducer … It’s not so hard to see — a kid looking for a father and didn’t have his own — and they won’t be planning to get into heavy-duty sex, but almost romantic, embracing, kissing, perhaps sleeping but not having intercourse or anything like that.
It’s an understandable thing …
Well no, it’s not understandable at all. Fatherless boys generally aren’t looking for much older males to kiss, snuggle, and be romantic with. They just aren’t. And absent from his comments is the recognition that the adult bears the responsibility not the child.
