Everybody’s been guilty of misspeaking, suffering from foot-in-mouth disease, but Akin’s legitimate rape comment was not a flub or gaffe, per se. His rhetoric and statements over the years reveal an ideology that is anti-science and anti-government.

Polizeros contributor Byron De Lear ran against Akin in 2008 and details, in his first post on Independent Voter Network (where I am an editor), Akin’s long history of bizarre, extremist statements.

Even Republicans, including Romney, are appalled by what Akin said. Byron said in the article that Akin won’t step down, and Akin just confirmed this.
