Downtown San Jose has a multitude of 2-way streets that can become 1-way for no apparent reason. This leads to much excitement when drivers get confused and go the wrong way down 1-way streets.
San Francisco tries to calm traffic by making it virtually impossible to make left-hand turns so sometimes three rights is the only alternative.
BUT, traffic in San Jose and San Francisco even at its worst is still nothing like Los Angeles.
