… when 140 reservists from the 222nd Field Artillery Unit stationed in Iraq return home to Cedar City UT six months early, just in time for Christmas.
The tiny airport here was jammed, with the mayor and police greeting them. But there deliberately was no welcome home ceremony at the airport because they wanted the soldiers to return to their families quickly. Instead, the ceremony will be after the holidays, an eminently sensible idea.
They’re now home with their families, not off fighting a senseless war. May they never have to fight another war like Iraq. It’s towns like Cedar that take the brunt of the deaths and casualties too.
