Gil Scott-Heron, dubbed the “Godfather of Rap”, has died aged 62 in New York. Artists from Snoop Dogg to Public Enemy’s Chuck D paid tribute to the US poet and songwriter on Twitter.

that record he did last year (or maybe ’09?) was pretty excellent as well. The Revolution. . . might be his catchphrase contribution to pop culture, but this guy was solid all the way around. true loss.
