Flow batteries, which recharge quickly, are currently used for load-leveling and storing power from wind or solar. Premium Power, who makes such batteries for grid-scale usage, wants to bring them to the home market for storing solar power. The batteries could also be used to recharge EVs. Their pricing is way less than competing flow batteries too. This means energy generated by home solar can be stored for later use.
