60 mile traffic jam in China is 11 days old

The gridlock shows no sign of improving. The problem is that since authorities forced closure of illegal and unsafe coal mines near Beijing, Inner Mongolia is cheerfully shipping bootleg coal along the G110 expressway. Why that expressway? Because there are no inspection points. And all those trucks is what is snarling traffic.

As any resident of Los Angeles knows, it just takes a little extra, sometimes just a stalled car, to create traffic jams if the system is already stressed. Imagine the impact thousands of coal trucks would have on L.A. freeways…
