I’m still on the fence about this one. They have a history with Gizmodo, so there’s potential there, but it’s not really clear either way. The fact that it was disguised in a case to look like a standard 3GS, and still has a few non-Apple things going on (like a user accessible battery) certainly indicate it’s a prototype. But to launch their next big item on purpose? There’s a risk in doing that, and not a lot of advantages that I can see…
I love how the article author thinks “Apple is the only phone vendor that has such tight integration of hardware and software services. ” Total bull IMHO. When was the last time you saw an LG running anything other than LG software? Or a RIM running android? Not the most tech-savy person to be writing about this topic. 😉
