Banana-eating Germany vs. cheating Greece

You just can’t make this stuff up…

Germany has been loathe to bailout Greece. The conflict between the two nations is escalating.

To wit:

A German magazine, Focus, says Greeks are the “cheats of the eurozone” and portrayed Venus de Milo flipping off Greece.

Greek media responded by invoking the previous Nazism of the Germans (of course) and called for a boycott of German goods because Greece was a pinnacle of civilization when Germans – wait for this – “were eating bananas in trees.”

Have we just crossed the historic Rubicon when a photoshopped classical statue is about to lead to a collapse in a monetary and customs union, and possibly something a tad more serious?
