Uighur protest death toll rises in China

Up to 500 killed in China. The official death poll is much less of course.

Han Chinese have been butchered too.

Han Chinese mobs are attacking Uighurs.

China blocks Twitter and Facebook. I guess they don’t want the whole world watching.

The Uighurs have had the Han Chinese boot on their neck for decades and there have been protests before, although none this violent or large. But mob violence has no head or brain so it’s difficult to see how this furthers any legitimate political goals of the Uighurs and will probably just make things worse for them, at least in the short-term. In the long term, an insurgency may well grow out of this.
