Huge corporations and cleantech

Triple Pundit

Many people have the misconception that the renewable energy field is comprised largely of little start-ups. In reality, many of the heavy hitters in the industry are large, established companies, such as General Electric, Google, and Waste Management.

Indeed. GE is huge in wind power, Google is investing heavily in renewables, and Waste Management plans to turn massive amounts of garbage into syngas.

Not only do such big corporations have the money and resources to fund cleantech, they are also demonstrating to other companies how to do it. This is important, because without them on our side, the change isn’t going to happen. And clearly, many of them now do see the virtues (and profit-making possibilities) of cleantech and renewable energy.
