Richie Unterberger’s White Light/White Heat: The Velvet Underground Day-By-Day has just been published. It looks to be an essential book on that hugely influential, Godfathers of Punk group, with lots of new information based on Unterberger’s exhaustive research.
I knew Ritchie back in the 80’s when I was writing for OPtion Magazine, an alt music magazine he co-founded. Even back then his research was meticulous, his articles well-documented. But most important, even though he wasn’t of age in the 60’s, his passion for that era’s music came through in everything he wrote. Still does.
Thus, I don’t have to read his new book to know it’ll be excellent. Check his website for more about it.
