Back to Detroit – Wayne Kramer
It’s a hard wind blows through the buildings and empty lots
As the corner of Michigan and 31st waits in ruin
And the echoes of happy shoppers faded long, long, long ago
Back when Chrysler, GM and Ford went mad with greedOh, how we hoped it would turn out right
Going back to Detroit
Yeah, it was greed. And contracts and pensions everyone knew couldn’t be funded forever. But no one cared. Push it into the future and let someone else worry about it. We’re the giants, we can’t fall, no need to worry about the Japanese automakers.
I hope Jeep survives. They really do make an automobile unlike any other and have decades of experience doing it.
