Will Rep. Jane Harman become smoking rubble?

According to NSA wiretaps, Rep. Jane Harman ((D-CA) told a suspected Israeli agent she would lobby Justice to reduce espionage charges against two AIPAC officials. The agent agreed to help Harman become chair of the Intelligence Committee after the 2006 elections.

Seemingly wary of what she had just agreed to, according to an official who read the NSA transcript, Harman hung up after saying, “This conversation doesn’t exist.”

It gets worse. According to reports, then Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez than dropped an investigation of Harman if she would support warrantless wiretapping, which she did.

So as you can see the circle is complete. Caught on an NSA wiretap, Congressperson is saved, so as to defend illegal NSA wiretapping.

Which one of these revelations is the worst? And why now?

Indeed, for reasons yet unclear serious forces have gone public with the story now and to pole-ax Harman, who of course is yowling that it is all lies.

Harman has a long and tired history of palling around with the hard right while she pretends to be a Democrat. So really, this comes as no surprise.
