Vacant malls, closed dealerships, halted projects

Mish wonders where it will end.

Four hundred of the 2,000 largest shopping malls have closed; construction is halted on hi-rise construction projects; and no one knows what to do with the increasing number of vacant auto dealership lots.

We’ve had a couple of those in upstate NY. Each has been bought and turned into something unlikely… a gym. The floor space is often open, but segmented enough to allow some nice flow. They often have strong AC systems to handle keeping the auto bays cool, even in the summer. And finally, there’s plenty of parking…
