Going insane trying to add a XP printer to a Vista PC?

The normal ways to add an XP printer to a Vista PC don’t work. I tried multiple times, gave up, then finally found an answer in a CNet forum.

I explain how to do it on my tech blog, adding how to find the computer and printer name on the XP computer, yet another part of this deeply unintuitive process.

I mean, of course, to add a XP printer on another computer to a Vista computer, it should have been achingly apparent to me that I needed to add it as a local port on a local printer even though Microsoft documentation says otherwise. Sigh.

But don’t be alarmed if this sounds geeky, it’s not. It’s quick, easy, and it works.
