Thousands protest Iraq war in Britain

Good! But, um, what happened to the antiwar movement here? Has it been vaporized by the all-encompassing presidential campaign? The two groups with the ability to pull off major protests, ANSWER and United for Peace, are missing in action. This is the first September since the Iraq War started that there have not been major antiwar demonstrations in the U.S. Not good.

Massive car bomb at Marriot in Islamabad

People are trapped on the top floors with the building still on fire. Dozens are dead, in their worst suicide bombing ever.

LA Times has photos showing just how bad this is. One photo shows the 30 foot deep crater created by the truck explosion with the hotel in the background engulfed in flames.
