Ireland rejects EU treaty

Irish voters have rejected the EU’s Lisbon Treaty which must be ratified by all member states. In a bizarre coincidence, Ireland was the only country to call a referendum on the treaty.

Um, and why didn’t the other countries allow their voters to decide?

European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso says “there is no Plan B” and a No vote “would have a very negative effect for the EU”

Sounds like the Hillary Clinton campaign, it was foreordained they would win thus there was no need to make contingency plans. Oops.

Micheal Martin, the minister of foreign affairs, acknowledged: “Perhaps there is a disconnect between the European institution and its people that we need to reflect on.”

Ya think?

Good stuff, Quarsan. Europe needs an EU run bottom-up, not top-down.
